What is Health Insurance?
The term “Health Insurance” is a common phrase which describes any type of insurance that pays/helps to pay for potential medical expenses. It has also been known in many cases to include the coverage of disability, long term nursing, and/or custodial care needs. This coverage is most often supplied through either a government agency or private insurance company, who then requires a premium to be paid by a specific company or individual wishing to be covered under the insurance protection. This coverage or “health insurance” is a means to protect the individual against unexpected medical expenses which will assuredly cost a much greater sum than actually paying for the insurance coverage through the monthly premium. In many cases, a full time employee may be offered health insurance as one of the “benefits” through their company; however health insurance can also be bought on the individual basis and may also be offered through certain schools.
